Wrapping up the Week
Today is normally the day we would put our poll up so you all could vote for the Tip of the Week. There’s just one problem! Not one of you submitted a going green tip this week. We received several great tips, just not green tips. I guess LMA’s confession about not being green was one you all could relate to?! Maybe everyone was so quiet because you guys aren’t very green either? Or maybe you were all out busy recycling and picking up cans?
We can’t bear the thought of not giving our great prize away that Theresa with I Choose to Go Green donated! (see box below) Well, here’s our new plan. We want you to leave us a comment telling us ANYTHING! Tell us you hated talking about going green. Tell us you meant to submit a tip and forgot. Tell us you had a bad hair day. Just talk to us you Lazy Moms!
We will pick a winner from all the comments submitted and announce the winner on Monday. And…..if we get enough comments, we’ll throw in some Lazy Loot of our own to an additional winner or two.
Since every post is better with a picture, here is a picture of us at the happy hour we went to last night.

Oh! And another thing! Do you girls even read the News Alerts? I am shocked that not a soul has had anything to say about me getting grossed out in a public restroom.
And in the spirit of things. Here’s a picture of me on the pot in a public restroom with my cell phone.
Are you ready?
Do you really want to see this?
Are you sure?
Are you really sure?

Really ladies?! I’m Lazy, not an exhibitionist! LMA and I were at a happy hour and she can pretty much talk me into anything at a happy hour. This is really a hilarious story!
LMA had already talked me into posting on the pot (with my pants up! on my phone) We went into the restroom to take the picure. There was maybe two other people in there ( in the stalls). So LMA says, “Quick! Sit down and pose so I can take your picture!” Right when I sit down about ten people come in!
Instead of pushing the door closed behind me, LMA comes into the stall with me and shuts the door behind herself. Now we are stuck in the stall together with ten women waiting to use the restroom! What do we do? Women kept walking in!
The line was getting longer and longer. We heard someone comment, after looking under our door, “There are two people in there!” We waited a few mintues and just finally walked out together with our heads held high! We also had tears streaming down our faces because we were laughing so hard! Our husbands could not understand what took us so long in the restroom!
OK, back to the topic at hand. We have a fabulous prize to give away. YOU might be the winner! So, leave us a comment! Have a great weekend, leave us a comment, tell us what you love and don’t like so much and try to find some time to be Lazy!

I’ve been enjoying the Going Green posts this week, but we’ve had hospital drama here (my mama…all is well now…no worries)…so, I’ve been able to read but not comment from my phone.
I really can’t say that I have any “tips” to share…
I’ve got a couple of kitchen trash cans right by the steps in the garage to toss newspaper & magazines. In the house I only put a garbage bag in our front trash can (it’s a pull out under the cabinet trash can thing), the back trash can is for plastic bottles. We’ve been doing this for a few months now & on our Tuesday Trash Day we have gone from hauling TWO big cans to the end of the drive to just ONE! Those simple things around our house have cut our waste in HALF!
I also use my recycled newspaper to clean my glass…streak free EVERY time! Totally recommend that!!
I do recycle, but not like I should! I have 3 trash cans in the garage for paper, plastic and cardboard. I am too lazy to rinse out cans, though. And a ketchup bottle? Forget it! They go straight into the trash! I have also been trying to buy up some bags for shopping, but I forget to take them in the store:)
Love your blog – keep up the good (funny) work!
I think I have just about seen it all. Going green? I can’t get past your picture on the potty–and the toilet paper in the corner. You’ve got to get LMA back for this one.
Here’s a green tip. Styrofoam is AWFUL for our earth and yet restaurants still us it for their to go boxes. So when we go out to eat, I put a tupperware container in my purse. Then after dinner I can take my delicious leftovers home (if there are any) without using that nasty white foam polystyrene!
You two are so funny! I love reading your blog each day. I am a lazy mom too, I just wish I had as much fun as you too have. I am also a green lazy mom….I have bags and boxes for all our junk mail, magazines, newspapers, plastic jugs and glass…but I have a hard time getting it to the recycling center. When it starts piling up and over flowing and I can’t pull the car into the garage any longer, then I know it is time to load everything up and take it all to be recycled. My kids hate riding along with me on that trip, they gag at the smell of the empty milk jugs that didn’t get completely rinsed out and they can’t stand the smell at the recycling center either….whimps! Yes, I’m doing it, Lazy Mom style!
I love your website! I follow you on Twitter, Facebook AND my google reader…total fan! My pal Mandy from Little Precious Boutique(the one that posted a few comments up!) told me about your site and it’s right up my alley.
I did love your post about the bathroom and could totally picture you 2 giggling in the bathroom stall…just hoping your camera wasn’t flashing as the 2 of you were in there! That would raise some eyebrows! Too fun!
I do recycle and only really started about a year ago. My kids are really good at spotting that little recycle sign on things. They spotted it on the McD’s Iced Coffee cups so I know I recycle those too.
Also, a green tip…Yes, we still use water bottles…I know not the best. But anyway, getting to the green part. There are always bottles left with water in them and instead of throwing it down the drain when no one claims them…I stick it next to my iron and use the water for my iron.
Thanks for a fun site!
Well…I recycle…just not as much as I should. Right now my daughter is trying to get my mother to recycle too!
I love the “potty” picture! Made my Friday!
As a truly Lazy Mom, I’m not terribly proactive on the green front. I mean, I do the things we’re encouraged to do like recycling, using the green grocery totes, switching to CFC lightbulbs, yadda, yadda. But yesterday I turned over a new leaf, a new grape leaf. I bought a bottle of Natura Syrah, an organic (and quite tasty) wine from Chile. The grapes are grown organically and bottled using recycled glass. I even saved the cork for an craft project
Now that’s what I call “doing my part”!
We have started buying our milk in glass bottles. We drink the milk, take the bottles back to he grocery store and exchange them for re-filled bottles.
I don’t know if this is offered everywhere, we happen to live in a small town close to a large dairy-farming community!
But, the milk is great and the waste went from 3 gallon-sized jugs per week to none!
I’ve also started using the “bring your own bags” at the grocery store. They hold so much more and no more white bags (that always have holes in the bottom so you can’t use them for anything else anyway!!) floating around.
Thanks for the laughs! Leslie, wish I could have been at that happy hour! Looks like you all had a blast!
Totally didn’t post on going green because I definitely don’t do it! I recycle at work because there are recycle bins that you don’t have to sort… other than that… too lazy!! I do love our planet, and would like it to last a long time, but it’s so hard because I haven’t seen anything different in my life (29 years) so it’s hard for me to think about. Just being honest!
To conserve water I shower with my husband! Also, since I have two boys a few years apart I save all of my older boys clothes that are still in good condition. To make this job easy, I keep a bin with a lid in my laundry room. When my older boy has outgrown something I fold it and put it in the bin right out of the dryer. When the bin is full I throw in a dryer sheet, label it with the size and put it in storage. Whenever my youngest has outgrown everything (usually all at once when we have somewhere to go, no money and no time for shopping) I pull the bin out, and walla, go shopping! The stuff is clean, smells fresh and I save a ton of money as well as recycle!
Can’t say I’m much for the going green movement, but I’m all about organic anything! We don’t recycle and we use the plastic grocery bags…. sometimes we keep those to use around the house, does that count?
I didn’t comment because I have nothing good to comment about recyling. I do it, but I’m not a crazy person about it so I have no tips for it. I did however, read your news and saw the post about the peeing on the phone and thought that was funny. I am glad that LMA made you pose for the shot because it made it even funnier! You should thank her. I only wish I could have been there when you walked out of the stall!
I am new here so I didn’t even know you were having a going green week. We just recycle and compost and try not to be wasteful. Our area just got new huge recycling bins that we can just throw everything in. We don’t have to sort or make sure nothing is going to fly away. Which makes life a lot easier for THIS lazy mom!
Loving your site so far!
Ahhhhh!!! I just spent 20 min. posting and lost it. I do not recycle, there I said it so all of you ladies who feel bad about not doing enough can feel better now. I do however exchange kids cloths with other mom’s, especially for my youngest two. When they are so young they grow out of their cloths so fast, I have gotten hand-me-downs with the tags still attached! I also reuse the plastic grocery bags like Shelya, and my kids use snack/sandwich containers and sports bottles when we have to go somewhere instead of buying the stuff that comes with several individually packaged snacks or individual juice boxes. Thanks for the recyceling tips ladies, what a wake-up call!!!
I recognize that stall! Call me soon!
Julie
LM Leslie: We went to high school together – DHS! Thanks for the great Lazy Mom info!
Lisa C.
We recycle as much as we can. It’s a good thing! I also love using my large reusable bags when I shop (check out http://www.reusablebags.com/store/acme-bags™-earthtote™-reusable-shopping-p-10.html). I hate those thousands of plastic bags you get from Wal-Mart (well, except for the few I need to line the wastebaskets)!
Go green!
When I go to the grocery store with my husband, I bring our reusable bags. When he goes by himself…he does not. He says he doesn’t feel like carrying them into the store.
I recycle our cans and plastic bottle soda’s.
The bathroom photo: too funny:-)
We actually make biodiesel from used cooking oil that we collect from five resturants in our town! We also recycle! I’d love to win!
We’ve started a “twice a year” recyling day in our neighborhood where items such as paint, chemicals, old computers, printers, cell phones are collected and then distributed to the appropriate centers. The neighborhood now knows to expect this and it prevents all those things from being thrown out. We have also started collecting items from homes such as lights, doors, fans, door hardware, etc. and take them to the Habitat for Humanity Restore. Someone else is then able to use them!
Leslie – love the photo! At least you’re dressed well and look good – as always!
Hi Ladies!
Amanda, are you wearing a CAbi jacket??? I went to my first CAbi party a few months ago and bought lots of goodies…I just thought I recognized that cute little blazer!!!
Sorry I am so sporadic about coming by…I need to add you to my blog roll or subscribe. I have your button on our site, but it doesn’t update like the blog roll does. I will get on this, as I am a really big fan!!!
What I like best about you both, is that you are kind, great moms, in my age group, stylish, fun, cute, talented, and funny! I enjoy you both immensely! The other thing I really appreciate, is that you genuinely care about your readers, and take the time to pop by our blogs and share some comment love, etc…some of the big time blogging celebrities, just don’t take that time to visit their readers the way you do, and I appreciate it so much!!!
SOOOO hope you plan a Lazy Mom’s reunion, get together, weekend get-away, or something fun to gather all your fans! Can’t wait for your book, and more about you both!
Now, for a few fun things on a different note…For readers who love to decorate…you must check out, “Real Deals.” It’s a home decor store across the country, with great home decor items at warehouse prices. They are only open two days a week but have INCREDIBLE deals..think the most awesome lamps for $22 or cute decorative tables for $6! It’s all new stuff and just a great bargain with really cute home decor!
Also, our town is having a grand opening of a place called, “Lillians.” Can’t wait to check it out…have never been but it has purses, flip flops, accessories, etc…for great prices supposedly. Even during a recession, we can all shop smart and outfit ourselves and our homes for less!
And, the bathroom story and photo is just a riot!!! You two are just the best!!!
Love you!!!!
