Work from the house, the ultimate excuse why the “house” work DOESN’T get done!

Do a quick sweep through each room after the kids go to bed each night–that way the clutter doesn’t build up and overwhelm you–it only takes 5-10 minutes and you will feel so much better in the morning when your house starts off semi-tidy!

Have a “15 minute Pick-up” everyday. Set the timer for 15 minutes, turn on some dance music and have everyone in the house spend 15 minutes to clear their stuff out off the common areas and to clean up/tidy their own rooms. You can do a lot in 15 minutes if everyone pitches in.

If it’s on the floor, throw it away. You can always buy more. My dad used this trick. Although he didn’t know my mom was replacing what he threw away. Never a mess and never anything old just lying around.

Touch-it-once: Don’t spend the day sorting through bills and emails. When you open it, respond to it. This saves you from milling and leaves plenty of time for your evening glass of wine!

    Hey Allison,

My mom would pick up anything left on the floor and we had to buy it back. Could be toys, clothes, or even school work that needed to be turned in.
