We have a long 3 months ahead of us and keeping our kids entertained will keep the Lazy Mom sane! Here are the top 5 suggestions for how to keep the kids entertained:
What's the best tip?
- A lazy mom doesn't spend the time filling up water balloons for a five second fight in the back yard - she buys regular household sponges and two big buckets with water and lets the kids have a sponge fight! (saves on the clean up time too - no little balloon pieces to pick up.) Tamara H. (41.0%)
- no matter what the weather, the plans (beach, lemonade stand, etc...) my kids ARE NOT ALLOWED to say, "I'm bored." They have learned this lesson the hard way - if they say that they are bored, I will find something for them to do...and it is almost guaranteed that they will NOT like it (think scrubbing the bathtub, cleaning out the pantry, wiping down baseboards, cleaning ceiling fans, etc.) To stop sibling bickering we also have "hug time out"....yep, they have to sit in a timeout WHILE HUGGING!....just the threat of this heinous punishment is enough to make them start getting along....so it really doesn't matter what else you do during the summer as long as you can stop (or at least slow down) the bickering and complaints of being bored! Lisa V. (25.0%)
- My friend and I trade sending our kids to each other's homes for a few hours once a week so we can go grocery shopping, run errands, have some alone time, etc. Meredith D. (16.0%)
- I plan to hit the free summer movies, free parks and free splash pads. Nicole P. (13.0%)
- Fun Outside Summer Evening Activity...Buy a bunch of small plastic bugs at the dollar store, throw them in the yard and send your kids on a but hunt with a net, bag or bucket. Whoever finds the most bugs gets a prize and whoever finds the strangest one gets one too, of course everyone gets a popsicle!! Torry T. (6.0%)
The winning tip will get to choose their favorite child apron from Bertie’s Etsy Shop. If your tip didn’t make the poll you can still click the link and order your own. Cooking with your children is a great way to pass the time on a rainy summer day!
