Lazy Moms Tip of the Day

Check the Box!

school menuI used a tip from one of our readers and I am so excited to tell you about it.  Our school starts Monday and I had all 3 kids go thru the school lunch menu and tell me which days they want to buy and which days they want to bring their lunch from home.  Now each morning and I don’t have to wait for the kids to decide.  I know how many lunches need to be made.  I could even make them the night before and sleep a little later like a Lazy Mom!!!

Add the Marinade

ground beefBuying your meat in bulk, and seperating to put in the freezer is no big secret, but putting the marinade in with the meat when you put it in the freezer is a big time/money saver. Simply, put the meat in the fridge to defrost, and it marinates at the same time. Really makes dinner a no brainer! submitted by Ivy H.

What a great tip!  Thanks, Ivy.  I am going to try this!

No More Missing Buttons

buttonsFor those who wear uniforms, or have spouses or kids who do – keep a sewing kit handy for the inevitable missing button. I take buttons off of old uniforms and keep them in a small Tupperware type container. I also include a spool of matching thread and a package of sewing needles in the container. Sewing a lost button on takes no time at all because everything I need is right there!

Sort as You Store

storage tubI keep a couple of huge tupperware bins in my garage that are my “for garage sale” bins. Everytime I come across an item in the house that I know longer want, I toss it in the bin with a price sticker on it. Then, when it’s time for the twice-yearly neighborhood garage sale, the items can be set out and ready. Whatever doesn’t sell goes to goodwill. Thus, empty bins are ready again for the next one….

Sort Your Laundry

For each bedroom and bathroom in the house purchase one of the inexpensive collapsible laundry baskets. You know the ones. **Just make sure each has 3 compartments. ** This way when everyone undresses they can separate their clothes into darks, lights, and whites right on the spot. This will make it easier to tell when you have enough for a load and it teaches the younger family members responsibility and sorting skills. Plus those collapsible baskets usually have great handles for carrying.
