What's the best parenting tip?
- When talking to your kids, try as hard as you can to ask open ended questions (questions that can't be answered with 1 word) or statements. For example, instead of "Did you have a good day at school today?" say "Tell me about your favorite thing that happened at school today." Hopefully this will encourage communication between you and your little ones and if you start it when they are young, maybe they will confide in you when they are teens! (32.0%)
- My best parenting tip is to pick your battles. There are many times when my kids do something that drives me crazy and they technically shouldn't be doing but if I corrected them every single time I would go crazy. Instead I just choose which things a discussion, or punishment is required for. (29.0%)
- Sometimes as a mom, it was easier to do chores by myself and let the kids have their way in another room. Then, after the house seemed to be falling apart around me, I decided it was time they helped. My boys, ages 3 and 5, have started helping load and empty their dishes out of the dishwasher. After breakfast they put their cereal bowls in the dishwasher. When we empty the dishwasher, they work very hard to have everything arranged in “their” order. They are very careful to leave it neat and tidy all day because they have invested in the organizing. It also keeps them busy while I am doing this “fun” daily chore! (26.0%)
- Put the kids to bed in the clean clothes they will wear the next morning. Most kid stuff doesn't get too wrinkled during the night. (6.0%)
