Ten Minute Task Tuesday
Ten days ago my youngest daughter had her 6th birthday party. It was a great success and she got many nice things. What I have been DREADING working on with her are the thank you notes. She writes slowly. I have to spell things. It’s not fun. I’m a Lazy Mom!
So, today, I took my own advice, set the timer for 10 minutes and tackled it! While she was at school, I purchased thank you notes. Now Lazy Moms, I hope you are all using fill in the blank thank you notes for your children. This makes it so much easier. They fill in the name, the gift received and then sign their name. You don’t have to deal with writing a whole note. It’s great. In fact, we have added some to our Lazy Moms Store. (We update this store daily, so be sure and check back often. Also, if you purchase something in our store as a result of a tip, we would love to hear how you like your item and if the Lazy Mom tip is working.)
Here is dear daughter working on her task. Ten minutes was perfect. She was able to get through one package (8 notes). She was burnt out at the end of the 10 minutes, as was I. We put them away and I told her we would work on them again tomorrow. Notice my beautiful door handle in the background!
Honestly, 10 minutes wasn’t bad. I had been dreading this activity and now we are halfway finished. Sometimes dreading the chore is worse than actually doing the chore.
Lazy Mom Leslie has a tip for thank you notes for your kids. She puts all the presents on the dining room table. Before the child is allowed to play with each gift the thank you note must be written. So one by one the notes get done and her kids don’t get burned out. They are actually excited to write their notes so they can pick a new toy to play with!
Now go set your timer and get to that task you’ve been putting off! We can’t wait to see your before and after pictures. What is the one task you always put off even though you know it is never as bad as you think it is going to be? Leave us a comment, let us know!

Leslie’s tip is something I use for myself because I tend to be too lazy to write thank-you notes. Before I allow myself to wear it, read it, drink it, or use it, I make myself write the thank-you.
Good for you for teaching your daughter how important thank you notes are! I have a tip for the dreaded task. I also use fill in the blank cards. Before we get started I take a sheet of paper and write the gift giver and the gift. On another sheet of paper I write a list of appropriate fill in the blank words or phrases: It’s cool, It rocks, I love it, etc. They work from the lists and they get to pick which phrase they want to write and I don’t have to spell every word!
[...] Here’s hoping that the next 10 minutes I spend clearing its field is more fruitful. Looks like Lazy Mom Amanda did a better job than I [...]
Amanda: Great job! You and your daughter did much better than I did with my TMT. Check out my blog!
Just in case you can’t remember/ or forgot to write them all down … we often take a picture with each guest and my child holding their gift. We will then send that picture along with our thank you note!
Great tips! When my boys were young, I always took a picture of them and the gift giver with the present, easy thank you note.
