Taking Care of Business
Last week was a big week here at Lazy Moms. We had a triple giveaway going on! Here are the three winners of the Lazy Mom Tote Bags from last week:
- The best tip of the week Tote Bag goes to Carrie H. Buy or make your pillows with zippers. That way you can change out your pillows for different seasons or just when you want a new look. You save money because you can reuse the pillow forms.
- The ”Invite Your Friends to Join our Facebook Group” random winner is Tara.
- The “Introduce Yourself on our Message Board” random winner is Wondermom- Lori
Congratulations Carrie, Tara and Lori. Please send us an email with your mailing information and we will get your new Lazy Mom Tote Bags in the mail! Thanks to everyone for participating in our Lazy Loot Bonanza!
Now, on to new business! The Topic of the Week this week is Health and Fitness. This is a topic close to Lazy Mom Amanda’s heart. Me? Not so much. However I do want to be healthy for myself and my family, I do want to feel good about how I look and I do want to fit into the clothes that are currently in my closet and not have to buy more in larger sizes! So, I am a very reluctant convert.
If you are like me, you know you need to
exercise and eat healthy but aren’t sure where to start. You want to get the biggest results for the least effort. (I know I do!) Well, this week we (with some help from someone who really knows what they are talking about!) will give you some tips to help you get going.
Don’t forget to submit your own Lazy Mom tips. You can submit tips for the current Topic of the Week, or general Lazy Mom tips. Mr. Linky is going up tomorrow for Ten Minute Task Tuesday. Set your timer for 10 minutes and get to work! Take some before and after pictures so you can post your progress! We are excited to see what you accomplish! Come and visit with fellow Lazy Moms in our Lazy Lounge. Lazy Mom Amanda and I visit the lounge several times a day to meet new friends and read the great tips you all have and we can’t wait to get to know you all!

My health/fitness tip: I do all my stretching in the shower. I stretch out my shoulders, arms, legs (I have a “seat” built in), neck. Not only does it give me an excuse to stay under the nice hot water longer, and get a longer break from the wee kids, I come out completely relaxed AND stronger for it! Then I drink a tall glass of water or two to make up for the dehydration.
This lazy Mom is so blamed lazy she has not checked Facebook in over a week. Actually it is not laziness but just covered up with ’stuff’
Yesterday I took a Greyhound bus-load of people to our Cathedral for a special event for people who are coming into the Catholic church. We have 23 this year, not bad for a town of ten thousand+. There was a lot of preparation for the trip and I have kept late hours to get it done.
Tonight I am having dinner at my oldest kid’s house. She is 54 years old today and I feel absolutely ancient! I have great, great grandchildren. It is lovely to enjoy the little ones with NO responsibility. They have to mind and I correct their English but other than that we just enjoy.
My Health/Fitness tip: Try joining a Gym that has a good child care area. It is usually not that expensive per month and at my Gym I get 2 hours per day included in my monthly fee. That is 2 hours a day just for myself. I can take classes. Use the machines or use the spa area. It is awesome!
Ali, I have found that making the bed is great stretching exercise to loosen up after sleeping, It is the first thing I do each morning, just takes a couple of minutes and since I throw my decorative pillows on the floor each pillow stretches my back.
My fitness advice is to take on a new sport with a group of friends. I’ve done this with both running and tennis. You get a great workout, get time to chat with your girlfriends, and it doesn’t seem like you are working out as much since you are talking and distracted. Also, set a goal. For running, make plans to run a specific race or for tennis, make plans to join a league or get to a certain level.
