We all have birthday traditions. Blowing out the candles, opening gifts, or a special dinner. We do all those things but we also have another birthday tradition that my kids look forward to.
Each year, the night before their birthday while they are asleep, I decorate their door. The birthday child wakes up to streamers, ballons and a banner. They LOVE it! In fact, they always sleep in the same room the night before a birthday. That way they both get to enjoy the streamers and balloons in the morning.
I started …

We recently went on a family vacation to Mexico. I don’t think I have told you that yet. We spent five days in Playa Del Carmen and it was fabulous! Lazy Dad Philip and I have vacationed in Mexico several times but this was the first time that we took our kids with us. In the words of our children, “This is better than Disney!” Mommy and Daddy agreed! We stayed at a great all inclusive resort and had the best time just hanging out with our kids.
One thing we …

This is what my kids named last night. It was indeed Lazy! We are blessed to have a swimming pool in our backyard. We all put on our suits and yes Mom got her hair wet.
I bought pre-packaged seasoned fajita meat from my local Kroger store. I also purchased the pre-made guacamole, fresh salsa and cheese dip. My kids love any food they can dip! The best part about this meal is that Big D is in charge of the grill so he does most of work. All I had …

We received quite a few votes from our Friday poll. But, we can only have one winner. The winning tip for how to entertain your children this summer is:
A lazy mom doesn’t spend the time filling up water balloons for a five second fight in the back yard – she buys regular household sponges and two big buckets with water and lets the kids have a sponge fight! (saves on the clean up time too – no little balloon pieces to pick up.) submitted by Tamara H.
Congrats, Tamara. …

“We never do anything fun!” How many times do you hear that from your kids during the summer? It’s enough to make me crazy sometimes! I used to get so frustrated. I knew we had spent an entire summer doing fun stuff together but for whatever reason my kids couldn’t seem to remember any of it.
Thanks to a great idea from Stacy Julian I have solved that problem! At the beginning of the summer I make this. It’s our Summer Fun list.
We make a list together of all the fun …

They don’t call them the Lazy Dog Days of Summer for nothing! Not every day has to be scheduled with an activity. The best part of summer is knowing you don’t have to be anywhere or do anything! Have a family at home day with the kids. Stay in your jammies all day, watch movies, play board games. Just enjoy not having a schedule!

One thing my kids always want to do during the summer is some type of craft. You name it, they love it and want to do it! We have tried several different ways of doing this. We have spread them out throughout the summer. We have had one or two dedicated “craft days”. We (I lazily admit) have even gone a whole summer without craft because I just couldn’t get it together!
I haven’t decided how I’m going to do it this summer yet. I’m either going to spread them out …

Hi ho! Hi ho! It’s off to camp they go.
My oldest has gone to “spend the night camp” for the last two summers. She loves it. I was a nervous wreck the first year she went. She had just finished 2nd grade and the camp is Sunday through Friday. During this time, there is no communication unless your child sends you a letter. It was such a loooonggg week for me. I sent her with self addressed stamped envelopes and every day I went to the mail box and waited …
