Photo Books
I used to be a scrapbooker. I have all of the “stuff”. The only problem is, I’m too lazy to get it done! I don’t have a craft room at my house and I don’t want all of my scrapbooking stuff spread out on my dining room table. You know how it is, you can’t just “crop” for one or two hours. It takes me an hour just to lay everything out and figure out a plan. So, sadly, I have pretty much given up. I have 3 baby books. As with other moms, one is GREAT, the second one is good and the third has some documentation and a few pictures.
Oh, and the camcorder…don’t even get me started on that. If you think for one minute I actually take a camcorder along on trips we don’t know each other as well as I thought we did. I have the old kind. The kind you can’t download to your computer. Now, if I had one of those fancy ones that weigh like 1 ounce and can download to your computer. That might be another story. But, I am way to lazy to go through the effort of the old camcorder. Maybe you could drop Lazy Dad Daniel a note and suggest it for Mother’s Day?!
One thing that I have started doing after vacations is photo books. In case you don’t know, photo books can be found online. I use Shutterfly, but I’m sure you can find them at other sites. Most of us have digital cameras. You have to download those to your computer anyway. So, in this case, I download to Shutterfly and drag and drop pictures into a photo book. It is so super easy. I have even given them and received them as gifts. Here are a couple that I have:
This is from our trip to Cancun with some friends. I made one and gave the other as a gift. So many fun memories….
This book I made after our trip to Hawaii:
This last book is so precious to me. My sister made it for each of my girls. It is filled with pictures of just the cousins. She gave this to them right before we moved. Whew…I’m tearing up just thinking about it.
I have heard of friends taking photos of their children’s artwork or school work and compiling it into a photo book. I’m sure you guessed that I’m too lazy to attempt that. But, it’s a GREAT idea. You have a memory of it all in one place. Have any of you Lazy Moms done this? What’s your poison: scrapbook or photobook?

Photobooks ARE the new scrapbooks! So much easier to produce. I need to do more of them . . . one of these days!
i also did scrapbooking and quit for the same reasons. i don’t have that kind of time to waste. i started doing the photo books through shutterfly. i do them every year for my children’s birthdays (2 boys 9 & 6). i compile the entire year of every activity etc of the entire year. i do this with one specific agenda in mine. THEIR GRADUATION PARTY. i will be able to set their books out on a table for people to look through at their leisure. i won’t be the parent using tape and poster board and setting up an easel to display them on. i think they are tacky! i also do our vacations too.
these are the best!
i’ve also converted their baby books to these photo books.
