What is the best Cooking Tip?
- My favorite ingredient to cook with is a rotisserie chicken from Walmart. Lots of grocery stores sell them, but Walmart has some monster size chickens that will feed our family for two or three days. The day I buy it, the wings get eaten immediately because I've been smelling it in the car the whole way home! The remainder will get used for a few more days in everything from casseroles and salads to simple tortilla rollups with chicken, cheese and salsa. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd make stock from the bones, but that's never happened! It's such an easy and tasty shortcut for so many recipes! (33.0%)
- I make a menu of meals before I even think of heading to the grocery store. I also keep a magnetic notepad on the refrigerator and as we run out or low on something, it is to be written on the list. My shopping is much easier this way! (33.0%)
- Crock pot - pot roast (tastes like prime rib) 1 roast (rump, shoulder, etc... I find that it doesn't matter) 1 package of dry italian dressing 1 cup of au jous 5 beef bullion cubes 2 + cups of water (fill crock pot 1/2 way up with water) Cook in crock pot on low heat for at least 8 hrs. This is great to start in the morning and have for dinner. The roast should fall apart when you take it out! (19.0%)
- Super Easy Spanish Rice Meal - 1 16oz pkg spanish rice 1 lb sweet italian sausage 1 cup diced tomatoes (drained) 1 cup diced green peppers (frozen) Start rice - cook time 20 min Brown and slice sausage, drain, and return to frying pan. Add tomatoes and peppers. Once rice is done, mix all items together. Serve with salad and/or italian bread. Quick (under 30 min), easy, filling, and all my guys love it. (10.0%)
- To impress with a cake, you start with a mix and bake it in two circular pans. (i use silicone and i lard it up a bit) Once it's cool and you've cut off the puffy tops of the cakes, whip up some dream whip or pull out your cool whip or just use whipping cream, toss in icing sugar 1/2cup at a time until you get an icing-like consistancy, and then you can either add food colouring for a colour or chocolate syrup/cocoa powder to make it chocolate. If you have some cold espresso handy, toss that in with the cocoa, trust me. yummmm. Then use this to ice and fill the cake. It never fails to impress. (5.0%)
