Cooking Confession

Cooking is not my strong suit. I can cook, I somewhat enjoy cooking. But my husband? He loves to cook! He knows his way around a kitchen! For Mother’s Day I got a breakfast to die for! He made Crunchy French Toast. That is sweet bread soaked in vanilla, half & half, cinnamon and nutmeg and then coated in crushed Captain Crunch Cereal. The french toast was then topped with a chocolate sauce. He went to Shipleys Donuts and got some of their chocolate filling (my favorite!). That was all topped with strawberries soaked in sugar and Grand Marnier.

All of that was just to show you why I don’t stress out about cooking. No matter what I make he will make suggestions on how to do it differently or better. My point here is that I do not think ahead as much as I should for meal time. I do not plan our meals for the week. If I have a big lunch and I know I won’t be hungry for dinner, I don’t cook dinner. I make hot dogs or chicken nuggets for the kids and let him make something for himself.SL

This makes sense for our family. He enjoys cooking, he can make something out of almost nothing. In fact, even when I do make a meal I check with him first to be sure he hadn’t already planned to cook dinner. Yes, he cooks dinner sometimes during the week.

So my Lazy Mom Confession is that I do not do one of the basic stay at home mom jobs as consistently as I should. This is something I really want to work on. My hubby is very appreciative when dinner is ready and on the table. I want to make him happy and I enjoy caring for my family, so why do I struggle with this? This is a new goal for me. Dinner. Sounds simple doesn’t it? We’ll see.

What’s for dinner tonight? I honestly have no idea! Can I come up with something in the next few hours? I’m a girl that loves a challenge!

My LM confessions is, “I don’t iron unless I HAVE to.” My husband is the one who does the ironing and that is only for Sunday morning attire. He will even iron my clothes while I put my make-up on.
I do use the wrinkle release spray when necessary!

I hate to cook, and the Mister literally can’t cook (he can barely microwave). Yep, we’re a pathetic couple. But we can order from a menu like nobody’s business!

Crunch French Toast!!! Sounds right up my alley! Did I read correctly that it doesn’t have egg?

I hate eggs but I love french toast!

Well, my lazy confession is that I have a housekeeper! :-) Now don’t go thinking I lead a fabulous life of luxury, because I don’t…BUT, paying a little extra to have someone else clean toilets, tubs, and the oven is priceless! There is still groceries, cooking, laundry, ironing, plants, and outside stuff to do, etc…etc…but knowing that someone else can vacuum and scrub for me every other week is awesome! I highly suggest setting aside a little extra for this perk…I am MUCH happier not slaving away! :-)
